Denmark is looking to be the leader in speaker technology

At the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in January in Las Vegas, the Danish company Libratone was awarded with the International CES Innovations 2012 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree and with it, Libratone placed itself in the forefront of speaker technology and design.

The Libratone Live, which is the speaker system that won the award, is an AirPlay sound system that allows you to connect your iPhone, iPad or even some iPods to your Libratone speaker without a cable – so it’s not plug and play, it’s just play. The speaker system is so good, that the panel of judges, consisting of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the trade press chose Libratone ahead of all-other competitors.

However Libratone is not the only Danish company moving forward within air play sound systems. The Danish Electronics company Bang & Olufsen (B&O), attended the CES with their own AirPlay sound system called the Beolit 12. Common for the two companies is, that they are both Danish and that they can both be purchased in any Apple Store, as two out of only four different speaker brands. With that, Apple has recognized that Denmark and Danish companies has a special advantage within speaker technology. That is also one of the reasons why Innovation Center Denmark, Silicon Valley has launched a new project called Sound of Denmark in 2012.
